The show that gives back
At Eurobuilt we are about giving back. Since the inception of Eurobuilt Car Show & Charity Auction in 2016, Foundation Blue has been the official charity of Eurobuilt. Foundation Blue was created in 2011 after the passing of Alexi deRochambeau. Alexi was a legend in the VW community and a friend to all. His passing affected the whole community as well as family and friends. Before Alexi had passed he was in the middle of building his project VW Golf (affectionately known as Blue) which was a innovative project as you would expect from Alexi. Being that Alexi touched so many peoples lives his friends decided to take it among themselves to finish project Blue the way Alexi would have. Alexi’s parents and friends travel to car shows with Blue to raise funds for the foundation.
Each year at the August show we hold an auction to benefit Foundation Blue and have raised nearly $54,000 to help provide automotive technology scholarships. To learn more about the foundation and Alexi please visit their website foundationblue.org
Over the past few years Eurobuilt has also raised funds for the American Heart Association and Shriners Hospitals for Children. In 2019 Eurobuilt’s founder, Scott, lost his father, Robert “Pops” Herdling due to heart disease. Scott also battled heart disease in 2021. Through the generosity of those who attend Eurobuilt, almost $14,000 has been raised for the American Heart Association and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Throughout the years we have also made annual donations to BROC – Community Action and Housing Trust of Rutland County.
Since 2016 Eurobuilt has raised $68,000 in cash and used show proceeds to help those less fortunate. Giving back is part of who we are, it’s part of our culture, part of our belief system.
2016 Eurobuilt Car Show & Charity Auction
Our first show and charity auction in support of Foundation Blue raised $1900.00. We were thrilled by the response to the auction in the first year. The support from those in attendance gave us a great foundation to grow the auction in the following years.
2018 Eurobuilt Car Show & Charity Auction
Building on the show’s success in 2016 & 2017, the charity auctions became quite popular. In 2018 we were able to raise $3976 for Foundation Blue thanks to all our supporters in the car community. Our 3-year total for Foundation Blue in 2018 was $8756.
2020 Eurobuilt Car Show & Charity Auction
During 2019 and 2020 we faced some highs and lows. The high was raising $10,000 through the two show auctions, for a total of $18,756 for Foundation Blue since 2016. The low (aside from a global pandemic) was the loss of Scott's father, Robert "Pops" Herdling, to heart disease a few months after the 2019 show. The 2020 show was dedicated to the memory of Pops, an active Shriner and Mason. To honor his good work, we were able to raise $350 for Shriners Hospitals for Children.
2021 Eurobuilt Car Show & Charity Auction
In 2021 the annual auction to benefit Foundation Blue was held raising a record $10,376. An additional auction was added to benefit the American Heart Association. Having lost his father to heart disease in 2019, Scott found himself battling the disease himself in the Spring of 2021 having three stents placed in his heart to clear blockages. Having recently completing Cardiac Rehabilitation, he auctioned off his "I survived Cardiac Rehab" shirt, garnering a $1,000 bid which he matched. The crowd came forward and made cash donations, raising a total of $3,500.
2022 Eurobuilt Car Show & Charity Auction
The fundraising bar had been raised in a huge way in 2021 by crossing the single auction record of $10,000 for Foundation Blue. The crowd did not disappoint and we added another $10,000 for Foundation Blue and $3,000 for the American Heart Association.
2022 Eurobuilt Car Show & Charity Auction
At the end of the 2022 show, after 7 events, thanks to an amazing car community, Foundation Blue had received $39,132, Shriners Hospitals for Children had received $350 and the American Heart Association had received $6500, that is $45,982! We never would have thought that what started out as a 75 car event that raised $1900 would be where it is today.
2023 Eurobuilt Spring Show & Shine
2023 brought another year of change with the addition of Eurobuilt Spring Show & Shine in Greenfield, MA. This show was meant to be a more laid back kick off to the show season and give the Eurobuilt team an opportunity to enjoy the show and show off their rides. We auctioned off a very limited number one off Eurobuilt items. One item in particular became part of a bidding war settled by the classic game "rock, paper, scissors." The event and auction raised $3,400 for the American Heart Association.
2023 Eurobuilt Car Show & Charity Auction
As we lead up the regular August Eurobuilt Car Show & Charity Auction we wondered if attendees would be as generous since we held Eurobuilt Show & Shine just a few months earlier. We should have known that they would show up and be generous with the auction. The regular auction raised another $9,000 for Foundation Blue. A special auction, with a very special item, a framed photo of Scott himself, posing in a speedo brought in $2,300 for the American Heart Association. The photo now hangs in the home of an Eurobuilt regular.
2024 Eurobuilt Spring Show & Shine
Lets roll it back to 1986 for just a moment when we heard Whitney Houston sing "I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way." The children of the Eurobuilt crew showed us that they have the heart of charity and decided to sell bracelets at the show. Their sales, matched by show proceeds, raised $650 for Shriners Hospitals for Children. The regular auction raised $1,055 for the American Heart Association.
2024 Eurobuilt Car Show & Charity Auction
The generosity of Eurobuilt attendees continued at our latest event and auction. The children of Eurobuilt, once again, were inspired to sell bracelets and raised $400 for Shriners Hospitals for Children. The regular auction for Foundation Blue raised $5,600 and the special auction for the American Heart Association raised $300. We are so grateful to everyone who attends Eurobuilt events and helps us in our mission of giving back. We are looking forward to a banner 2025.
